Poets have long been captivated by the landscapes around them—but how do you write about the countryside without falling into cliché or sentimentality? How do you capture the rawness, beauty, and complexity of rural spaces in a fresh, powerful way? This interactive workshop will challenge traditional notions of pastoral poetry, exploring how contemporary writers engage with place, nature, and the wild. Through discussion and hands-on writing prompts, you’ll uncover new ways to bring the rural world to life on the page. Join us and reimagine the countryside through poetry. You’ll also get an inside look at postgraduate study at Northeastern University London, including an overview of the MA Contemporary Creative Writing programme and a live Q&A with our expert panel.
